Charleston is the hardest place in the Lowcountry to do carpentry well, and that's exactly why we like working here. Downtown, almost nothing is square, plumb or level, original trim profiles haven't been sold in a century, and the humidity works on a building year-round.
Work in the Old and Historic District comes with the Board of Architectural Review, and that changes how a job is planned as much as how it's built. Outside the peninsula, West Ashley and James Island bring a different problem: mid-century construction reaching the end of its siding, roof and window life all at once.
